PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens drive unit which is equipped with a driving source for driving a lens in an optical axis direction, and also, which can be loaded in the narrow space of a portable information terminal or the like. SOLUTION: A stepping motor for rotating a cam cylinder 30 for imparting a cam work in the optical axis direction to a lens frame 10 is constituted of: a rotor constituted of a permanent magnet 80 fixed to the cam cylinder 30, and cores 60 and 70; and a stator 90 for generating magnetic force for rotating the rotor by supplying power. By having this constitution, the unit constitution is simplified, the unit is made small in size and light in weight, and also, the impact-resistant structure of the unit can be attained.
