PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tile construction method, a tile laying backing unit and a tile used therefor, capable of preventing the tile and mortar from peeling off from a skeleton with the lapse of time, without impairing work efficiency of laying the tile. SOLUTION: This tile construction method uses the tile laying backing unit 2 composed of a base body 11 fixed to the skeleton 1 and a wire 12 supported by and fixed to the base body 11 and installed so as to become substantially flush with a surface of the mortar 3; and uses the tile 4 for forming a groove strip 33 having a width wider than the wire 12 so as to include the wire 12 and the mortar 3; and lays the tile 4 on the mortar 3 by press-fitting by adjusting the groove strip 33 to the wire 12, by painting the mortar 3 so as to become substantially flush with the wire 12, by painting the tile laying backing unit 2 inside, by fixing the tile laying backing unit 2 to a surface of the skeleton 1.
