PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system which prevents wasteful consumption of observation gas in a non-observation state where observation by an endoscope introduced in the lumen is not carried out and after the observation or a surgery is finished. SOLUTION: An ECR 51 has a valve unit 56 and a lumen air-sending control part 57. When the ECR 51 is made into an operating state, a solenoid valve 56b is in an air-sending standby state where a valve is closed. When a second light source apparatus 32 is in an operating state, a light source apparatus control part 58 outputs an illumination signal giving information that an illumination lamp 63 is in a lighted state and an air-sending and water-sending signal for giving information that an air-sending and water-sending pump 59 is in a driving state to an information signal detection part 57a. The air-sending standby state is kept in a state where the lumen air-sending control part 57 cannot confirm the input of an illumination signal to the information signal detection part 57a or in a state where the lumen air-sending control part 57 confirms the input of the air-sending and water-sending state in a state where the ECR 51 is in an operating state.
