PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic thin film transistor which can be prevented from deformation, separation, and the like, by mechanical stress, and also to provide a flat panel display using the same. SOLUTION: The organic thin film transistor comprises a gate electrode 104, a source electrode 105 and a drain electrode 106 which are insulated from the gate electrode 104, an organic semiconductor layer 107 which is in contact with the source electrode 105 and the drain electrode 106 while being insulated from the gate electrode 104, and a gate insulation layer 108 for insulating the gate electrode 104 from the source electrode 105, drain electrode 106, and organic semiconductor layer 107.
