PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer instrument capable of securing an appropriate state of coupling between a drive unit and a moving member when they are coupled to each other with gears. SOLUTION: The pointer instrument comprises a pointer 3; an index plate 1 having index parts 11 arranged along the route of movement of the pointer 3; the moving member 2 extended and formed along the shape of arrangement of the index parts 11 for supporting the pointer 3 and having a train of gears (a first train of gears) 21 in a circumference; and the drive unit 5 having both a rotating member 52 having a train of gears (a second train of gears) 54 to be engaged with the train of gears 21 and a drive shaft 51 for rotating the rotating member 52 for moving the pointer 3 along the index parts 11 by rotating the rotating member 52 through the drive shaft 51. The drive shaft 51 is provided with a restricting means 53 for restricting the depth of engagement between the train of gears 21 and the train of gears 54 by contact with the moving member 2.
