PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective washing method for polycarbonate solution in an organic solvent and process unit/piping in producing polycarbonate by an interfacial polycondensation method, and to provide an effective sealing method for the system, especially for rotating machine. SOLUTION: The method for producing polycarbonate uses of an aqueous solution of organic solvent obtained by dissolving the organic solvent which is used in the polymerization, into water, in production of the polycarbonate by the interfacial polycondensation method, wherein the solution of the organic solvent is used as an aqueous washing liquid for washing the organic solution of the polycarbonate after polymerization and/or process unit/piping and an aqueous sealing liquid for the rotating machine.
