PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous heat treatment furnace capable of detecting a breakage accident of a roller with sufficiently high reliability only by using a set of projector and photo-receiver at the time of carrying and heat treating an object of treatment on a number of rollers. SOLUTION: In the continuous heat treatment furnace for performing heat treatment by carrying the object of treatment on a number of rollers 3 the driving end sides of which are synchronously rotated in a heating furnace, one set of a projector 6 and a photo-receiver 7 are arranged in the front and rear of the driven end parts of the plurality of linearly arranged rollers, and a disk having a slit 8a for passing the light from the projector within a common phase angle range is attached to each driven end part of the plurality of rollers.
