PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a falling preventive device for an elevating base capable of fitting a falling preventive piece between both sides of a mast and the elevating base in a substantially simultaneous manner, and easily changing design for elevating bases such as conveying devices having different mast widths. SOLUTION: The falling preventive device 12 for the elevating base comprises a plurality of brake levers 31 which support a falling preventive piece 34 and is provided operable from the waiting position to the working position, a locking shaft 41 which is engaged with the brake levers 31 in the waiting position to prevent any turn of the brake levers 31, and permits the turn of the brake levers 31 by disengaging the brake levers 31 by the turn around the shaft, and an abnormality detection means 51 which is engaged with the locking shaft 41 at the turn preventive position of the brake levers 31 to prevent any turn of the locking shaft 41 in a normal condition, and permits the turn of the locking shaft 41 by disengaging the locking shaft 41 in an emergency condition of a hanging member such as a chain 14.
