<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive capable of setting, in a short period, a parameter optimum for the optical disk to be used without using a particular recording pattern. <P>SOLUTION: The optical disk drive is provided with: a means for measuring mark length and space length which are recorded on an optical information recording medium by a standard strategy or a write strategy changing at least one setting parameter in the combination of a plurality of kinds of marks and spaces with respect to the reference strategy; a means for calculating the deviation values of each mark and space due to the change of the write strategy on the basis of the measured mark length and space length and a theoretical length; and a means for calculating the amount of extension/contraction unique to all of the marks and spaces from the calculated deviation values and the existence provability of each mark and space.
