<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing method for a packaging bag which methods ensures sealing strength even if impurities concentrate on one place or are present in a large amount. <P>SOLUTION: The sealing method for sealing an opening of the packaging bag filled with a content uses a seal member, which has irregularities on a seal member surface coming in contact with a packaging film, the recessed parts of the irregularities being formed consecutively at least in a direction crossing the extensional direction T of the periphery of the opening. The seal member is applied to the periphery of the opening to heat seal it, and then is subjected to an intensive sealing process, while being cooled, along the extensional direction T of the periphery of the opening to form a plurality of cooled sealing parts 10 on the cooled seal member, with which the periphery of the opening is cool sealed. The above process creates false sealing parts 8 corresponding to the recessed parts of the seal member, so that the impurities 7 are allowed to escape into the false sealed parts 8.
