PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manual transmission having an improved shift feeling. SOLUTION: This shift gate mechanism for the manual transmission 100 comprises a shift select lever 103 provided in a transmission case 101 turnably in a shift direction and movably in a select direction and having a gate groove 110 as a first engaging part, and a breather plug 130 mounted on the transmission case 101 for regulating pressure in the transmission case 101 and having an engaging part 108 as a second engaging part for engaging with the gate groove 110 to restrict the movement of the shift select lever 103 in the select direction at each shift stage.
