PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas spring capable of largely dividing transition of not only extruding motion but also intruding motion of a piston rod with a simple structure. SOLUTION: An end part of the piston rod is fixed to a working piston displaceable in a cylinder, an internal space of the cylinder is divided into a first working chamber at a piston rod side and a second working chamber separated from the piston rod by the working piston, one of the working chambers is divided into an attenuation chamber and a partial chamber by a braking piston of a terminal damper displaceable in the cylinder, the braking piston is brought into contact with the working piston in a final attenuation area of the intruding motion of the piston rod and displaced into the attenuation chamber, and the drawing action in displacing the braking piston by the working piston is increased in comparison with a case when the braking piston is displaced to be close to the working piston. The drawing action in the intruding motion of the piston rod is reduced in comparison with that in the extruding motion of the piston rod by drawing connection between the partial chamber and the first working chamber.
