PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object holding device capable of generating a weak holding power without using a spring as a power source generating a holding power. SOLUTION: The object holding device includes a plurality of holding arms 48 for holding an object turnably secured to a vertically movable base portion 46, electric motors 50 outputting a rotary driving power to the plurality of holding arms 48, and a drive control section 72 controlling the drive of the electric motors 50. A plurality of the electric motors 50 are arranged responding to the holing arms 48, and the drive control section 72 performs a control for outputting a rotary driving power of either one direction of at least an opening direction or a closing direction to the respective electric motors 50 and a control for supplying electric current for outputting the rotary driving power for generating the predetermined holding power to the holding arms 48 to the respective electric motors 50 when the holding arms 48 hold the object in order to cause the holding arms 48 to perform opening movement or closing movement.
