PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for excluding a filling defective cup capable of recovering a filling substance and a cup without futility and omitting waste of a seal lid and a useless filling process by metering and judging the filling defective cup and avoiding to cover a lid and to close by sealing. SOLUTION: In a continuous filling and packaging line for a cup noodle, the cups each filled with a main material such as a noodle are hung in parallel on a retainer conveyor and intermittently run, and are respectively covered with the lids and closed by sealing. The method for excluding the filling defective cup in the continuous filling and packaging line for the cup noodle and the apparatus are characterized by that after filling with the main material such as the noodle, the amount of filling the cup is metered at a position before the lid is covered and closed by sealing, and a filling defective cup judged to be excess or deficient from a specified quantity is made to reach the end of a conveyor while the lid is not covered and not closed by sealing, and the filling defective cup is discharged to a retaining lot for goods for inferior quality.
