Colored threads on spools will be knotted into the carpet. There is one carrier for each color, in a row on a conveyor. A fastening wheel presses the threads into the clip slots. The thread is parted between the carriers using a cutting tool, leaving a knotting thread on each carrier, its length equal to that of the carrier base. This length will form a Persian knot. A unit comprising a control computer, a fastening- and selection wheel and a displacement drive, sorts the cut threads in accordance with the given carpet pattern. The sorting unit is brought into position ahead of the warp thread equipment. Pairs of parallel hooks remove the knotting threads from the carriers. One hook of the pair clamps the thread, the other is a passing hook. They loop the knotting threads around two adjacent warps, forming a Persian knot. The hooks of a pair are parallel with non-varying spacing. Alternatively the spacing is variable, and there is a wedge moving towards the adjacent warps to hold them apart.
|
