PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal device capable of carrying out facsimile communication via an IP network more surely with a simpler method compared with conventional technology. SOLUTION: A facsimile machine 20 is provided with a RAM 7 for storing an abbreviation number table 7a including information whether or not facsimile communication by each destination is made via the IP network. When a main control section 1 discriminates that a facsimile communication is made via the IP network on the basis of the abbreviation number table 7a (YES in a step S1 and YES in a step S11), the main control section 1 controls execution of IP network countermeasure processing such that the main control section 1 raises the level of a facsimile signal to be transmitted by a prescribed level and sets it and transmits the resulting signal (step S2), and carries out facsimile communication at a transmission rate limited to a prescribed transmission rate or below.
