摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength variable light source that falsely makes mode hop free by lengthening a resonator length so as to oscillate in multimode. SOLUTION: A wavelength variable light source has: a semiconductor laser (LD) 1; a collimate lens 2 that collimates light emitted from an AR-coated end face of the LD 1; a diffraction grating 3 that receives collimated light emitted from the collimate lens 2 and diffracts it at an angle complying with a wavelength; a mirror 4 that receives light diffracted based on the collimated light emitted from the diffraction grating 3 and reflects it to the diffraction grating 3; and an angle adjusting means 5 that, when the light reflecting at the mirror 4, entering the diffraction grating 3, and being again diffracted (now as diffracted light) is made to enter the LD 1 via the collimate lens 2, changes the mirror 4's angle such that the diffracted light entering the LD 1 becomes a light with a desired wavelength. In the light source, the resonator's length is made so long by installing an optical fiber 6 with a specific length between the LD 1 and the collimate lens 2 as to multimode-oscillate.
