PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an end cap type ball screw with a ball to be removed from a screw groove of a screw shaft without the need for a tongue portion to rake up the ball on an end cap. SOLUTION: A ball direction changing passage 7 is constituted by a connection groove 32 provided in the end face of a ball nut 3 and a curved groove 41 provided in the end face of the end cap 4 in opposition to the connection groove 32. The ball direction changing passage 7 consists of a ball removable region where the ball 5 rolling out of the end of a load ball passage 6 to the direction of a leading angleθof the screw groove 2a of the screw shaft 2 is pushed up to a shoulder 2c of an outer diameter portion along the surface of the screw groove 2a and then pushed up with the shoulder 2c of the outer diameter portion as a supporting point by the curved groove 41 and then it is completely removed from the screw groove 2a without riding over the outer diameter portion 2b, and a ball guide region where the removed ball 5 is stored to be guided to the end of a ball return passage 31.
