PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear type continuously variable transmission, in which an increase of whole length of a member operable at a right angle with a rotational axis of a noncircular gear is restricted in a rotation axis direction as far as possible, and structure of the support member is simplified. SOLUTION: The gear type continuously variable transmission 100 comprises: a plurality of continuously variable transmission units 1 to 4 constituted by meshing of a plurality of noncircular gears 18 to 21; a plurality of support members 5, 6, 7 rotatably supporting the plurality of noncircular gears 18 to 21; and one-way clutches 22 disposed to each of the plurality of continuously variable transmission units 1 to 4 to connect the support member 5 with either of the noncircular gears 18 to 21 so as to allow power transmission. The plurality of support members 5, 6, 7 include a movable type support member 7 movable at right angle to the rotational axis and a fixed type support member 5 not movable at right angle to the rotational axis. The one-way clutch 22 connect the fixed type support member 5 with the noncircular gears 18 to 21 attached to the fixed type support member 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
