PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for sensing capable of accurately judging whether heat seal in a continuous filling and packaging line is good or poor. SOLUTION: The method for sensing whether enclosing by heat seal is good or poor when after a cup hung and running on a retainer conveyor is filled with a food material, a seal lid is put on the upper part opening end of the cup and is closed by heat sealing, is provided. The method for sensing whether enclosing by heat seal of the cup hung and running on the retainer conveyor is good or poor is characterized by that while the seal lid is expanded into a round curved shape by making a center higher by thermal expansion accompanying enclosing by heat seal, after the seal lid is pressed by a pressing body so as to accelerate air leakage when the heat seal is poor, and the position of the height of the cup is restricted, the seal lid is pressed by a sensing plate with a sensor, and the height by expansion of the seal lid is measured to sense whether the sealed condition is good or poor.
