An external electrode (22) and an internal electrode (24) between which an electrical impulse is applied are coaxial with respect to each other. Photocatalysts (34, 36) in dielectric material cover the electrodes and have an elimination and reception surface (40) for receiving and eliminating pollutants. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for treating pollutants contained in gaseous effluents of a motor vehicle. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Device for treating pollutants contained in gaseous effluents of a motor vehicle (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The photocatalyst in dielectric material permits to increase the efficiency of the treatment of pollutants contained in the gaseous effluents and exhaust gas from internal combustion engine of the vehicle, while ensuring compactness of the device. The electrical impulse reduces the temperature in an efficient manner. The elimination and reception surface is obtained without increasing the encumbrance of the device.
