The invention relates to a method for authenticating subscribers to a digital mobile telephone network. The method aims to guarantee reliable authentication of subscribers wishing to make use of the service provision of the mobile radio network, but whose call number is not yet known to the mobile radio network. To this end, when the subscriber selects a special service offered in the mobile radio network by dialling a service access number, this service access number is recognized as such by the switching node of the mobile radio network responsible for call set-up. The invention is further characterized in that: recognition of the service access number causes automatic activation of a service logic which processes the call; the service logic automatically tests the presence of the call number (MSISDN) of the calling subscriber in the initial address message (IAM); on non-provision of the subscriber's call number (MSISDN) in the initial address message (IAM), the calling subscriber is automatically connected by the service logic to an appropriate network function for self-identification and authentication. Finally, after successful authentication by the service logic, the subscriber is automatically connected with the selected service. |
