摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image display method, a stereoscopic image forming/projecting apparatus, and a display system which totally dispense with a prior proofreading operation of an optical system and which enable a stereoscopic image to be viewed simultaneously by a large number of people. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes the stereoscopic image forming/projecting apparatus 1 which is equipped with: a polarization modulator 12 that alternately outputs a polarization modulated beam to the same optical path by applying to white light a modulation of alternately generating left and right circularly polarized light; a spatial modulator 13 that alternately outputs spatial modulated beam to the same optical path by applying to the polarization modulated beam a spatial modulation of imparting a spatial pattern corresponding to the left eye and the right eye image signal Il, Ir; and a projection mechanism 15 that alternately outputs to the same optical path a stereoscopic image beam for projection by enlarging the spatial modulated beam. In addition, the method includes a polarization maintaining screen 2 which reflects the stereoscopic image beam for projection while the polarized state is maintained, and polarizing glasses 3 which have circularly polarizing filters 3l, 3r for the respective eyes that selectively transmit the left and the right circularly polarized light component of the reflected stereoscopic image beam for projection. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
