<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature prediction device for rotary electric machines that is capable of achieving a prediction of the temperatures of coils and a laminated core with accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: A synchronous polyphase motor M includes an electric heating element based on coils 2 and a laminated core 1 and coolant 1 and 2. The motor consists of: a coolant temperature sensor 13 that measures the temperature of coolant 1; a copper loss and iron loss computing unit 15 that computes copper loss and iron loss from a current command value for the synchronous polyphase motor M; and a coil and laminated core temperature predicting and computing unit 16 that predicts the temperatures of the coils 2 and the laminated core 1 by a function of copper loss, iron loss, and coolant temperature from information obtained from the coolant temperature sensor 3 and the copper loss and iron loss computing unit 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
