<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device of a light emission display panel exhibiting improved utilization efficiency of electric power by compensating for a change in forward voltage of a spontaneous light emitting element. <P>SOLUTION: A multiplicity of pixels 10a for light emission display are arrayed in a matrix in the light emitting display panel 10 and a forward voltage monitor section 11 having a monitor element Ex is formed in the display panel 10. A constant current is supplied from a constant current source 12 to the monitor element Ex, and a first information signal (Vf 1) corresponding to the forward voltage of the element is taken out from the anode of the monitor element Ex. Also, the driving device is equipped with an external light detector 14 having a light receiving element Ep for detecting the brightness of external environment where the display panel 10 is placed and for taking out a second information signal corresponding to the brightness. The first information signal (Vf 1) is corrected by the second information signal in an arithmetic section 13.
