PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recorder capable of preventing electrostatic discharge damage to a reproducing head using a GMR element. SOLUTION: This magnetic recorder has a magnetic recording medium, a spindle for rotating the magnetic recording medium, a head slider of a flotation type provided with a reproducing head using a giant magneto resistive effect element, an actuator for moving the head slider on the magnetic recording medium and a housing for housing the respective members. The magnetic recorder has a discharge mechanism that can make metal and a dielectric alternately pass through within a range of 50 nm from the reproducing head. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
