The invention relates to an airbag module which is used to protect a passenger of a motor vehicle, comprising at least one gas bag (4, 5) which can be inflated by means of a gas generator (8). The gas generator (8) is disposed in the inner chamber of the gas bag (4, 5) or the thus produced gas can be guided into said inner chamber by means of a supply device. Said airbag module also comprises an expandable gas deflecting device (6) which is arranged between the gas generator (8) and the gas bag (4, 5), said gas deflecting device being fludically connected to the gas generator (8) and the gas bag (4,5). In order to further develop the airbag module (1) so that it is even more less flammable and is also easier and more economical to produce and mount, the expandable gas deflecting device (6) is embodied as a deformable band (7) which has a spiral shape in the cross-section covering the radial ends of the band (7) when the gas generator (8) is in the deactivated state. |
