A tube-laying process, especially for a gas-isolated tube, comprises combining individual sections (1) in a fixed assembly space (4) into which the existing tube projects through an opening (5). The new section projects through a second opening (6), is joined on and the combined length withdrawn through the opening (5) for a repeat step. An independent claim is also included for a device for the above process.
