PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of preventing an optical detecting means from erroneously detecting the position of a mirror unit owing to external light. SOLUTION: The camera has the mirror unit (6) which moves between a 1st position and a 2nd position about an optical path of photography, the optical detecting means (30) of optically detecting the mirror unit being at the 2nd position, and a control means (40). The control means starts detecting the position of the mirror unit by using the optical detecting means before the mirror unit reaches the 2nd position after starting moving from the 1st position toward the 2nd position.
