PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a spacer for a liquid crystal display element with which a spacer having excellent scattering properties onto a liquid crystal panel can be manufactured even when a seed polymerization method is used and to provide the spacer for the liquid crystal display element manufactured by the manufacturing method and the spacer having the excellent scattering properties onto the liquid crystal panel. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the spacer for the liquid crystal display element wherein a polymerizable unsaturated monomer and a polymerization initiator are dispersed in water and then absorbed in seed particles and the polymerizable unsaturated monomer is polymerized to obtain polymer fine particles, the polymerizable unsaturated monomer is polymerized by adding a polyvinyl alcohol having weight average molecular weight of 20,000 to 100,000 as a dispersion stabilizer. In the spacer for the liquid crystal display element manufactured by the manufacturing method, the polyvinyl alcohol having weight average molecular weight of 20,000 to 100,000 exists on the surface of the polymer fine particles.
