PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform camera shake correction where conspicuous shake is set as a target in accordance with the holding state of an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is equipped with an imaging part for taking a picture and a vibration-proof shift lens for restraining the shake, and has a camera shake correction means and a means for detecting an imaging apparatus holding state. The imaging apparatus is equipped with the vibration-proof shift lens 16 restraining the shake based on a shake detection part 72 to detect the shake and a contact state detection part 70, a vibration-proofing control part 52, and a holding state judgement part 66 and changes the driving range and the resolution of the lens 16 in accordance with the holding state.
