PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can form an image of high quality by preventing a defect in fixation by controlling the surface temperature of a heat roller always into a proper fixation temperature range even if a detection surface of a non-contact temperature sensor is stained with toner and oil, and further paper powder scattering during fixation. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus equipped with a fixing means 5 of fixing an unfixed toner image on a recorded form P is provided with the non-contact type temperature sensor 10 which is opposed to a fixing paper-passing region of the heat roller 51 and detect the temperature of the heat roller 51, and compares a detected temperature rise time needed for the detected temperature detected by the non-contact type temperature sensor 10 to rise from 1st set temperature to 2nd set temperature with a reference temperature rise time to determine correction temperature, and a control means 11 which controls power supply to a heat source heating the heat roller 51 based upon correction temperature obtained by adding the correction temperature to the detected temperature detected by the non-contact type temperature sensor 10.
