摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely regulate luminous energy to a proper level in a polarization separation type optical sensor. SOLUTION: In this method of regulating the luminous energy to the proper level in the polarization/separation type optical sensor wherein reflected light of light emitted from a light emitting element is polarized and separated by a light receiving element to be photoreceived, and wherein a difference component between outputs from the respective light receiving elements is used as a sensor output, a signal voltage imparted to the light emitting element is increased stepwise, the luminous energy is increased thereby to search an output increase range ZH of a range with the sensor output increased in response to the increase of the signal voltage, and the signal voltage is increased stepwise a prescribed level by a prescribed level from a prescribed start point, within the searched output increase range ZH, so as to detect the signal voltage for bringing the sensor output within a proper range.
