The invention relates to electrical engineering, in particular to chemical electric power sources. The inventive sealed nickel-cadmium storage battery comprises a vessel, a lid, positive nickel electrodes and negative cadmium electrodes, the charging capacity of which exceeds the charging capacity of the nickel electrodes, a separator, an alkali electrolyte and an oxygen electrode which is made of activated coal and is electrically connected to the cadmium electrode; the oxygen electrode consists of two or more parts embodied along the length thereof, wherein each part consists of two plates, between which a fibrous hydrophilic material is arranged, the parts are separated from each other by means of grating-type elements made of electrically insulating material, the thickness of the fibrous hydrophilic material is equal to 0.25-1.0 the thickness of the plate of the oxygen electrode and the thickness of the grating-type element is equal to 1.0-4.0 the thickness thereof, the oxygen electrode is located in the top part of the battery and the lower part thereof is immersed at 0.1-0.8 the hight of the electrode into the electrolyte; the charging capacity of the cadmium electrode is by 75-100% greater than that of the nickel electrode.
