The absorption element, made of sound insulating material, has at least two layers (1,2), the inner layer covering the inner exhaust pipe of the exhaust silencer. The two layers are composed of glass bonded synthetic mineral fibers, which are selected for their properties in respect of the temperature resistance and sound absorption. An independent claim is also included for a manufacturing method of an absorption element made of sound insulating material.
