<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fibroin H-chain protein derived from the order Trichoptera and a gene encoding the protein and to provide a method for preparing the protein and a method for utilizing the protein. <P>SOLUTION: The present inventors carried out cloning of fibroin gene which is a constituent protein of a silk fiber of insects of the order Trichoptera and succeeded in isolating the protein and clarifying the primary structure. it was found by the present invention that the fibroin H-chain protein derived from the order Trichoptera has a structure in which aggregates of some amino acids are repeated and these amino acids includes many proline, but scarcely includes alanine. The protein in the present invention is fiberized in water and becomes a raw material for specific materials not changing strength even when the protein is kept in water for a long time.
