PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagnostic device for a vehicle excellent in reliability, capable of carrying out the minimum failure diagnostic treatment for a diagnostic objective device in accordance with information memorized in a second memory device even when a first memory device fails and capable of carrying out further detailed failure diagnostic treatment by using information memorized in the first memory device. SOLUTION: This diagnostic device for the vehicle to diagnose failure of the diagnostic objective device in accordance with information for diagnosis including hysteresis information in operation of the diagnostic objective device concerning the diagnostic objective device loaded on the vehicle and to be diagnosed of its failure is furnished with the first memory means to memorize the information for diagnosis, a diagnosing means to output a diagnostic result about the failure of the diagnostic objective device by arithmetically data to be a base of diagnosis accumulated in the first memory device and the second memory device to memorize the diagnostic result to be output from the diagnosing means.
