PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To combine a desire of a user who wants to enjoy the display of text subtitles in a number of languages, and an actual requirement of a maker that wants to maintain the guarantee of quality even when displaying text subtitles. SOLUTION: A BD-ROM reproduction device reproduces a moving picture while reproducing one of text subtitle streams. A PSR contains, in its reservation area, languages with absence of decode capability for text subtitle streams as reserve languages since trouble may occur in the indications of text subtitles. A setup unit 32 inquires a user whether or not to increase kinds of languages capable of displaying text subtitles regardless of trouble in the indications. When the user performs positive operation in response to this inquiry, a stream selection unit 17 selects a text subtitle stream corresponding to the reserve languages from among the plurality of text subtitle streams.
