PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device which can reduce a manufacturing cost, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The electro-optical device having a light emitting element which interposes a light emitting layer between opposed electrodes includes a first electrode (21) provided on a predetermined surface, a partition wall (28) provided to surround the periphery of the first electrode on the predetermined surface, an insulating coating part (22) having an oblique surface crossed to the top surface of the first electrode from the side face (28a) of the partition wall and coating the boundary between the partition wall and the first electrode and its vicinity, a light emitting layer (24) provided at the upper side of the first electrode in a region (B) formed by the partition wall, and a second electrode (25) provided at the upper side of the light emitting layer.
