PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking device which surely keeps a switch open. SOLUTION: The device comprises a cutoff 1a with a pair of contacts 3 and 4 which are freely connected and disconnected and an operating mechanism 1c with an electromagnetic actuator 15 which opens or closes the cutoff 1a. The actuator 15 comprises a yoke 17 for securing a magnetic path to a fixed member, the armature 18 of a movable member which moves in the yoke 17 joined to the cutoff 1a, a closing coil 20 which moves the movable member in the closing direction, an opening coil 21 which moves the movable member in the opening direction, and a lock lever 24 put between a gap formed by the movable member and the fixed member to block the movement of the movable member.
