摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-film magnetic head in which the unintentional erasing of information is suppressed during a non-recording time by making the magnetic domain structure of a magnetic pole layer appropriate. SOLUTION: When a magnetic pole layer 10 has pulling stress, the thin-film magnetic head is constituted so that an insulation layer 9 which is located adjacent to the magnetic pole layer 10 along the lower direction has pulling stress and a gap layer 12 which is located adjacent to the magnetic pole layer along the upper direction has similar pulling stress. Since the pulling stress of the magnetic pole layer 10 is maintained by receiving dynamic effects from the respective pulling stress of the insulation layer 9 and the gap layer 12, the magnetic domain structure of the magnetic pole layer 10 is made appropriate. Therefore, residual magnetic fluxes in the magnetic pole layer 10 that receives magnetic elastic effects immediately after recording are hardly leaked out to the external during a non-recording time.
