PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized and bright lighting device having a light emitting diode as a light source. SOLUTION: The lighting device includes; a first light source part 10 having a light emitting diode 11 as a light source; a second light source part 20 having a light emitting diode 21 as a light source; a prism 30 provided with a first surface on which light emitted from the first light source part 10 impinges, a second surface on which light emitted from the second light source part 20 impinges; a third surface which transmits light impinging from the first surface as it is and totally reflects light impinging from the second surface independently of its polarized state, and a fourth surface from which light transmitted through the third surface and light totally reflected by the third surface are emitted; and a light guide member 40 provided with a light entrance surface 41 on which light emitted from the prism 30 is made incident and a light exit surface 44 from which light made incident from the light entrance surface 41 is emitted.
