PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can form an image of high quality by preventing a defect in fixation by controlling the surface temperature of a heat roller always into a proper fixation temperature range even if a detection surface of a non-contact temperature sensor is stained with toner and oil, and further paper powder scattering during fixation. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus equipped with a fixing means 5 of fixing an unfixed toner image on a recorded form P is provided with the non-contact type temperature sensor 11 and a contact type temperature sensor 10 which are opposed to a fixing paper-passing region of the heat roller 51 and detect the temperature of the heat roller 51, and equipped with a control means 12 which corrects non-contact detected temperature that the non-contact type temperature sensor 11 detects based upon contact detected temperature that the contact type temperature sensor 10 detects when the heat roller does not rotate and controls power supply to a heat source heating the heat roller 51 based upon the non-contact detected temperature having been corrected.
