PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase startability after stopping a diesel engine automatically. SOLUTION: An ECU 130 calculates driving time for driving a crank shaft based on pressure feeding phase, injection phase, and calculated stop phase and sends a driving command to a start motor 142. The start motor 142 generates rotation force during only required time based on the driving command sent from the ECU 130 and rotates the crank shaft through a gear train included in a meshing gear mechanism 140 always to thus change the stop phase of the diesel engine 1.
