PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shielding machine and a pipe jacking method of the shielding machine, capable of advancing boring without causing a ground change in state, when constructing a tunnel for passing under a road. SOLUTION: A plurality of main shields 6 and a plurality of large diameter shields 26 are combined, and a main shield 26 having a diameter larger than an upper stage is arranged in a lower stage, and the main shield 6 arranged in the upper stage is driven in the first place. While rotatingly driving a cutter head 28 of the two main shields 26 and 26 of the lower stage in a state of projecting the three main shields 6, 6 and 6 of the upper stage, a shielding machine 20 body composed of a front body 3 and a rear body 16 is advanced by extending a shielding jack in a state of storing the two large diameter main shields 26 and 26 of the lower stage in the front body 3, and the ground positioned in front of the large diameter main shields 26 and 26, is excavated by a cutter 29 of the cutter head 28.
