PAPER POST-PROCESSING DEVICE AND PAPER POST-PROCESSING METHOD

A paper post-processing device has a sensor (48) which detects penetration of a punch hole aligning pin (42) through sheets of paper and has control means which, when a time from the activation of the pin to the penetration exceeds a standard time, returns the punch hole aligning pin to an initial position and causes the pin to retry the penetration action. Even if punch holes of the paper (P) are greatly misaligned and only one penetration action is not enough for the punch hole aligning pin to penetrate through the paper, mostly the punch hole aligning pin can be penetrated through the punch holes by repeating the penetration action, so that paper alignment errors can be reduced. When the pin cannot penetrate through the paper even after predetermined times of penetration actions, the pin is returned to the initial position and error display is made.
