<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct color deviation by exactly detecting color deviation amount by influence made because a secondary transfer mechanism and an intermediate transfer body cleaning mechanism abuts on and separates from an intermediate transfer body in an electrophotographic printer having two-path constitution. <P>SOLUTION: The color image forming apparatus has; 1st and 2nd image forming means having an optical part, a latent image forming medium and a plurality of developing means arranged around the latent image forming medium and developing toner whose color is different from each other; an intermediate transfer means to which the toner on the latent image forming medium is transferred by successively passing through the 1st and the 2nd image forming means several times; a 2nd transfer means for transferring the toner on the intermediate transfer means to recording material and installed to abut on and separate from the intermediate transfer means; a cleaning means for removing toner left after transfer on the intermediate transfer means and installed to abut on and separate from the intermediate transfer means; and a means for forming a color deviation detection pattern on the intermediate transfer means. The apparatus provides timing when the 2nd transfer means and the cleaning means abut on the intermediate transfer means in the midst of forming the color deviation detection pattern. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
