IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD, AND IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which makes convenience to users compatible with efficient energy saving without releasing a low-power consumption state by passage of users who don't use the device.

SOLUTION: While a copying machine 200 is in a sleep mode, it is detected whether a user approaches the copying machine 200 or not (S2). In the case that an IC tag 600 exists within a range of an electric wave emitted from an IC tag reader/writer 500, approach of the user is discriminated because communication between them is possible. Reading data from the non-contact IC 600 is started (S3). The user is authenticated by read data (S4), and it is discriminated whether an original has been set to an auto-feeder or not (S6) in the case that it is found as a result of user authentication that the user is permitted to the use the copying machine. When the original is set to the auto-feeder, a turned-off power source in the copying machine 200 is turned on to restore the copying machine 200 from the sleep mode (S7).
