<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical laminated body which provides superior manufacturing efficiency compared with a conventional optical laminated body, easily controls the refractive index, has a uniform optical characteristic over a long time and has high durability and to provide a polarizing plate obtained by using the optical laminated body and a liquid crystal display device having the optical laminated body and superior display performance. <P>SOLUTION: An optical laminated body (C) has a first optically anisotropic layer (A) having thermoplastic resin and a second optically anisotropic layer (B) having lyotropic liquid crystal molecules. The lyotropic liquid crystal molecules of the (B) layer are oriented to a specific direction by cutting. An in-plane slow axis of the (A) layer and an in-plane slow axis of the (B) layer are practically made parallel and laminated. When the refractive index along the thickness direction of the optical laminated body (C) is nz, the refractive index along the in-plane slow axis direction is nx and the refractive index along the in-plane fast axis direction is ny, the body (C) satisfies 0.93≤Re<SB>40</SB>/Re<SB>0</SB>≤1.07. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
