PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of a vehicle capable of suppressing a shock by rattling in the controller of the vehicle on which a power transmission device connected thereto through a frictional engagement element is mounted. SOLUTION: An ECU implements a program having a step detecting the position of a shift lever (S100), a step for discriminating whether a shift operation is followed by rattling or not (S102), a step for engaging a forward clutch (S104) by fixed wait pressure set to fixed wait pressure for rattling P (X) when the shift operation is followed by rattling (YES in S102), and a step for engaging the forward clutch (S118) by the fixed wait pressure set to fixed wait pressure P (Y) for non-rattling higher than the fixed wait pressure P (X) for rattling when the shift operation is not followed by rattling (NO in S102).
